Family Day at Museum of Coastal Carolina

Spring is almost here, which means Family Day at the Museum of Coastal Carolina is coming Saturday, April 11! Several events will take place outside (weather permitting) and inside the museum.

New this year will be a fascinating booth by Ingram Planetarium called Cloud Burst. Popular returning activities include measuring a shark?s tooth to estimate the animal?s size, a buried treasure hunt, sea life pond and sea globes. There will also be a mystery egg decorating, a coin toss and a special T-shirt craft for Earth Day?s 50^th Anniversary.

Family Day is a great opportunity for kids to learn about local wildlife. Matthew Bookout will have some live snakes and reptiles, and the Seabiscuit wildlife shelter and Ocean Isle Beach Sea Turtle Protection Organization representatives will be on hand.

Visitors can also talk with representatives from the Brunswick County Sheriff?s Office Animal Protective Services and Ocean Isle Beach Fire/Rescue and Police Departments.

Food at Family Day includes Papa John?s Pizza, Nana's Main Ingredient (a food truck specializing in kids? menu), Sunset Slush, and Dixieland Kettle. In addition, museum volunteers will hold a bake sale, and those who ordered a Boston Butt from the museum can pick it up between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. (Deadline to order is April 4.)
