The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide high profile leadership, vision, guidance and strategic direction for the programs and personnel of the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce. The President & CEO will facilitate and lead staff and board efforts to achieve the mission and goals of the Chamber as approved by the Board of Directors. The President and CEO has full responsibility for profit and loss (P&L). The President will demonstrate knowledge and expertise on economic development principles, the regional economy, political environment, marketing and branding concepts, membership sales, and the opportunities and challenges to the growth and prosperity of large and small employers in the region. The President & CEO will demonstrate openness to ideas from a variety of sources and focus on achieving “best in class” outcomes.
The successful candidate for this position must be a leader and a passionate advocate for driving the Chamber to achieve standards of excellence. He/she will be a highly collaborative leader with the ability to successfully manage current programs while developing new programs and strategic initiatives for the Chamber and forming mutually beneficial partnerships with other business and community organizations within the region.
A minimum of a 4-year degree in business, marketing, finance, nonprofit management or related field (or equivalent experience) and 5 years’ experience in the related field.Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in an organized and timely manner. Ability to maintain a separation of personal public and political positions from, and able to ensure they do not interfere with or undermine, the priorities of the organization. Successful supervisory experience. Excellent and effective teamwork and collaboration skills. Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans. Demonstrated experience with managing budgets and evaluating financial statements. Flexibility in work schedule to include evenings and/or weekends as needed to attend events/meetings.
●Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including management of programs, membership and marketing efforts
●Work with the Chair to prepare agendas and materials for Board and Executive Committee meetings
●Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board
●Serve as the principal spokesperson and ambassador for the Chamber
●Represent the Chamber at business and community events, meetings, etc.
●Build partnerships with other organizations
●Support the officers of the Chamber
●Advise the Chair in the appointment of personnel to committees, task forces
●Manage the Chamber’s affiliated Business Development Committee 501 (c) (3)
●Direct the annual and long-term planning process
●Fulfill the legal responsibilities as Secretary to the Corporation
●Fulfill the officer and committee responsibilities assigned to the President in the Chamber by-laws
●Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to committee efforts
●Participate in higher level membership and sponsorship sales
●Identify and develop revenue generation programs and events
●Serve as the chief liaison with other chambers of commerce in the region and the State
●Oversee organization of the Chamber's annual Strategic Planning
